What does this mean?

This is an antique early 20th century, about 1913, high-arm treadle sewing machine by Domestic with the original stand done in quarter-sawn oak, a popular wood motif for home decor in the Arts & Crafts era. The Domestic Sewing Machine Company was established in 1861by N. S. Perkins and William Mack in Norwalk, Ohio, their first complete machine was introduced in 1864. Their success and profits grew rapidly and they moved the main office into an iconic building on 14th and Broadway on Union Square in New York City. The company did not survive the Great Depression in the 1930s. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
