These are late 19th century, about 1895 - 1900, Victoran era, turned wood, plank bottom spindle back chairs. They are likely oak and the crest rail (top of the back of the chair) is pressed, not carved. Steam pressing a design that looks like carving was a new technology at the end of the 19th century, it allowed for less labor time and higher product output. The chairs have been re-painted in white at some recent time. The estimate is for the 4 chairs together as a set and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables.
