Hawley Bros. Ltd set of two pottery vases
2x vases approx. 26cm high, pale yellow with a floral pattern on front and back with ornate (jug type) handles on the side/top. Both vases are stamped on the bottom with a circle that is divided into 4 equal segments. The individual letters H B L appear in 3 of the segments, with a crown in the 4th segment. I'm guessing from my own research that HBL is Hawley Bros Ltd that produced pottery in Yorkshire UK circa 1868-1903. Both vases also have numbers 6616/2608 and 6620/2608 written and in respect of 66xx number is etched in the bottom.
My great great grandfather was a Tanfield, he owned Tanfield Potter and Co in NZ early 1900's

You are correct that these are Hawley Brothers pottery pieces, England, circa 1868-1903. You have a ewer and a vase. They do not bring very much on the market and it is difficult to date these more precisely than the date for the pottery. They appear to be in fair condition, with a very nice opalescent glaze.

I've just been doing some family research regarding some small potteries in a village called Rawmarsh, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, UK that my ancestors used to run, the Hawley's. Just by chance I've come across this website and noticed that you have a couple of vase that were apparently made by my ancestors, would those vase be for sale at all please?
