Painting by Rudolf Freund signed and given to my grandfather. Painted in 1945, presented to my grandfather in 1963.
Artist was local to this area and a friend to my grandfather and father. It has been in our family since Mr Freund gave it to my grandfather in 1963. Mr Freund signed the painting and also noted that he presented it to my grandfather, Andrew Curtis, on the back

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This oil on canvas painting / laid down on plywood by Rudolf Freund (1915-1969) shows two hay wains on their way back to the farm. This would have been a familiar sight in a rural area in the 1930s or 1940s, quite pleasing for any farmer to see. Rudolf Freund ist best known for his illustrations in books and magazines. Few of his paintings have been offered at auction. The estimate is based on these few results and the fact that farm life related paintings are in lesser demand.
