Persian rug made in Iran
I have around 6 or 7 Persian rugs that I just acquired. Most of them have a yellow tag on the back corners noting hand made (knotted) in Iran. Material seems to be 80% wool and 20% cotton. This rug in particular is a 9' 10 1/2" X 4' 4 1/2". The colors are vibrant and the rug itself seems to be in great shape. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate it at a 8 1/2. I've included photos of both the front and back of the carpet.

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a mid 20th century carpet from the western part of Iran, the ornamental borders are typical for the Hamadan region. The light color variations are a result of the inconsitency of the dye or the way the hand-spun wool was prepared, always allowing small variations in the intensity or shading of the colors. This would be typical for a rug made in a rural area. The abrash is not a flaw, it proves that the rug was hand made and adds a specific unique touch to it. Similar rugs have been offered and sold at auction. The estimate is based on recent results. Prices in the trade are often much higher.
