AUCTION IN CHICAGO
This is a pair of vintage, 3rd quarter 20th century, framed enamel on copper renderings based on details from posters originally done by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 - 1901). The plaques themselves were not done by the hand of Toulouse-Lautrec. Enameling is the art of painting with thin coats of powdered glass on metal and then firing the glass on to the metal at temperatures as high as 1750 degrees. The estimate, for the pair together, is for catalogue auction sale and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary. Insurance and estate tax purpose appraisals will also vary and are not provided here.
