What does this mean?

This is a vintage black lacquered wood jewelry box from China that is done in the Japanese 'shibayama' panel style with cut natural stones and materials used to piece together a bas-relief image. There is also hand painted surface decoration to add to the affixed images. This is a multi-tiered jewelry casket with several drawers and front swing-open doors. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
