Wedgwood cachepot
A blue-and-white ceramic cachepot with 3 bands of deep matte blue alternating with 2 indented white matte bands, the white bands inscribed with a pattern in black. Width: (top) 6"; (bottom) 4 1/4" Height: 5 1/4"
Given to me in 1984 as a wedding gift by my French cousin, a viscount and his wife. They lived in Paris.

Your cachepot is lovely, but I do not believe it to be Wedgwood. Wedgwood was impressed with marks to the underside. While there are certainly some unmarked pieces of Wedgwood, stylistically, it doesn't speak to Wedgwood as the maker.
It could be of French origin and I believe it to be a jardiniere, or planter, due to the hole at the bottom. It appears to have some age and is likely from the first half of the 20th century. The pattern around the band doesn't match up all the way around, and as such, it would suggest that this is a mass manufactured piece. For these reasons, I have provided a modest estimate.
