27 April 2018
Description

Mahogany wood table /" 50 W X 30 H " Queen Ann Legs/ Flower like design underneath table.

Provenance

I was hoping to get some info on a table I inherited from my Grandmother. I was told by an antique dealer that the table is a "1930's Queen Ann Parlor Table and it was worth between $3500 -$4200 ". I can not seem to find ANY info under this description. I am single mom going through a rough patch and unfortantly I need to sell it ASAP! I know very little about it ,I would really apprecaite if someone could let me know what kind of information I am going to need to get it sold. As well as a name or style ? Also, I apologize for the pictures ( my mother took them and shes not the best with a camera phone lol) the table is 3 hours away from where I live but I'm going there this weekend to get better pictures. Thank you very much! -Mary B.

What does this mean?

This is a vintage early 20th century, circa 1930s, entryway or parlor style table with 8-legs. Technically, the legs are cabriole form with a minor influence of the Queen Ann style at the foot. These are referred to as 'fantasy form' furniture, as there are influences from rococo, Victorian, Chippendale and Queen Ann all rolled into one style even with a petal form lower register shelf in woven rattan which is used for a planter display. It was not mentioned when the dealer stated a value of $3500 - $4200 nor if the dealer offered to purchase this too. If the dealer is interested in purchasing, it would be a good idea to sell as the fair market value is significantly and realistically lower. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
