What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This is a hand chased and incised brass and and possibly pewter inlay plate, commonly called mamluk ware or cairo ware. The ancient warship depicted in the center is possibly a bireme. Such decorative wall decorations can be found mostly in Egypt, but also in Syria and northern Africa, basically along the borders of the former ottoman empire. I would date the plate in your possession to the first half of the 20th century. The estimate is based on auction results. "Asking prices" in the trade may be higher and vary.
