This appears to be an Afghan tribal rug, the central field decorated with an alternating repeating pattern of arabesques and palmettes, surrounded by a well contrasting palmette border and several running dog pattern borders. These Afghan rugs have been very popular in recent years and large numbers were exported from Afghanistan during the last quarter of the 20th century and later on.
